At the end of February 2022, we were saddened by the news of the death of a prominent atarist of the Czech-Slovak scene. After several months of illness, Ľubo Roba, known under the nickname -XI-, died at the age of nearly 48.
Most of us knew him from various Atari events he participated in. He regularly helped with the organization of the international Forever party. In 2006 he was even the main organizer of the Noise Party meeting in Košice. With his creations he sometimes participated in competitions.
He was interested in Atari computers from 8-bits to Falcons. He created software - as a member of the Satantronic group, he is the author or co-author of many programs (Mad Editor, eXtended RAM test, Font Animator, ...), demos (Satan Demo, Te.mod, Revertant V1.2, ...) and several games (Magic World, Jurassic Park 2). He was also able to create graphics and music.
He also worked on hardware projects, including SatanDisk and CosmosEx. He repaired and extended machines for the atarians in his area.
And because all this was not enough, he was also involved in publishing. In the 90s it was a paper magazine Atarix. In the 21st century, he was one of the founders and contributors to the Slovak Atari portal atari.sk .
And besides all that, he was just a nice person who rarely was not in a good mood, which he was able to transmit to others. He made many friends not only in Slovakia, but also in the Czech Republic and Poland.
Rest in peace, Ľubo, and you who knew him, remember him well.
